James River Knights (Buchanan, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Rockbridge County Wildcats (Lexington, VA), 7-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Knights now own a 15-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Radford for a Three Rivers challenge on Tuesday, May 9. James River will battle a Bobcats squad coming off a 11-3 league loss to Alleghany (Covington, VA). The Bobcats record now stands at 4-10.

With the loss, Rockbridge County falls to 5-12 on the campaign. The Wildcats host Turner Ashby (Bridgewater, VA) to battle the Knights in a Valley challenge on Tuesday, May 9. The Knights enter the challenge with a record of 17-0. Turner Ashby won 13-3 in their recent league challenge against Harrisonburg (Harrisonburg, VA)
