Carbondale Terriers (Carbondale, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Mt. Vernon Rams (Mt. Vernon, IL), 3-1 in a league challenge.

The Terriers now own a 13-14 record. They take the field next when they host East St. Louis for a non-league challenge on Friday, May 10. Carbondale will battle a Flyers squad coming off a 17-2 league loss to Belleville West (Belleville, IL). The Flyers record now stands at 1-13.

With the loss, Mt. Vernon falls to 14-15 on the campaign. The Rams host Centralia (Centralia, IL) to battle the Orphans in a South Seven challenge on Thursday, May 9. The Orphans enter the challenge with a record of 10-10. Centralia won 10-9 in their recent non-league challenge against Charleston (Charleston, IL)
