The crowd at Wednesday's non-league match between the James River Knights (Buchanan, VA) and the visiting Eastern Montgomery Mustangs (Elliston, VA), saw James River's softball squad nip Eastern Montgomery by a count of 11-6.

The Knights now sport a 6-9 record. They take the field next when they travel to Patrick County for a Three Rivers match on Friday, May 10. James River will face a Cougars squad coming off a 3-1 league loss to Carroll County (Hillsville, VA). The Cougars record now stands at 12-5.

With the loss, Eastern Montgomery falls to 12-4 on the campaign. The Mustangs travel to Parry McCluer (Buena Vista, VA) to face the Fighting Blues in a Pioneer match on Thursday, May 9. The Fighting Blues enter the match with a record of 9-7. Parry McCluer lost 3-2 in their recent non-league match against Rockbridge County (Lexington, VA)
