Springfield Spartans (Akron, OH) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Woodridge Bulldogs (Peninsula, OH), 7-5 in a league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 15-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Holy Name for a non-league challenge on Friday, May 10. Springfield will face a Green Wave squad coming off a 5-1 league loss to Elyria Catholic (Elyria, OH). The Green Wave record now stands at 11-5.

With the loss, Woodridge falls to 1-17 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Coventry (Akron, OH) to face the Comets in a Metro Athletic Conference challenge on Saturday, May 11. The Comets enter the challenge with a record of 14-9. Coventry won 7-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Alliance (Alliance, OH)
