East Carteret Mariners (Beaufort, NC) fans were thrilled Monday as they observed their soccer team triumph over the host Lejeune Devil Pups (Camp Lejeune, NC), 9-0 in a league challenge.

Next, the Mariners face the Southside Seahawks (Chocowinity, NC) in a Coastal Plains 1A/2A challenge, on Wednesday, May 11. East Carteret will attempt to better on its 5-3 season record. The Seahawks enter the challenge with a 7-8 record after their 1-0 league win over Lejeune (Camp Lejeune, NC).

The Devil Pups now have a 2-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Southside for a Coastal Plains 1A/2A challenge on Tuesday, May 10. Lejeune will face a Seahawks team coming off a 5-0 non-league win over Cape Hatteras (Buxton, NC). The Seahawks record now stands at 6-8.
