Mapleton Mounties (Ashland, OH) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Western Reserve Roughriders (Collins, OH), 13-2 in a league challenge.

The Mounties now own a 5-7 record. They take the field next when they host Crestview for a Firelands challenge on Thursday, May 12. Mapleton will battle a Cougars squad coming off a 9-5 non-league loss to Huron (Huron, OH). The Cougars record now stands at 11-5.

With the loss, Western Reserve falls to 3-14 on the campaign. The Roughriders host South Central (Greenwich, OH) to battle the Trojans in a Firelands challenge on Wednesday, May 11. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 16-5. South Central won 2-0 in their recent league challenge against New London (New London, OH)
