New Lothrop Hornets (New Lothrop, MI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Ovid-Elsie Marauders (Elsie, MI), 5-4 in a league challenge.

The Hornets now own a 6-1 record. They take the field next when they host Ovid-Elsie for a Mid-Michigan challenge on Monday, May 9. New Lothrop will battle a Marauders squad coming off a 12-1 non-league loss to Calvin Christian (Grandville, MI). The Marauders record now stands at 7-8.
