Ward Melville Patriots (East Setauket, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Northport Tigers (Northport, NY), 1-0 in a league challenge.

The Patriots now own a 2-13 record. They take the field next when they travel to Bay Shore for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 11. Ward Melville will battle a Marauders squad coming off a 12-0 league win over Walt Whitman (Huntington Station, NY). The Marauders record now stands at 9-4.

With the loss, Northport falls to 4-5 on the campaign. The Tigers host Connetquot (Bohemia, NY) to battle the T-Birds in a Section 11 AA-1 challenge on Wednesday, May 11. The T-Birds enter the challenge with a record of 7-5.
