In Tuesday's non-league contest, the East Thunderbirds (Cheyenne, WY) softball team the visiting Laramie Plainsmen (Laramie, WY), by a margin of 7-3.
With the triumph, East moves its record to 16-5 on the year. The Thunderbirds travel to Wheatland (Wheatland, WY) to play the Bulldogs in a 4A East contest on Thursday, May 11. Game Summary
East got on the board in the first inning when Trista Stehwien grounded out, scoring one run. East pulled away for good with one run in the third inning. In the third Emily Schlagel grounded out, scoring one run. East put up three runs in the fifth inning. East's big bats in the inning were led by a single by Brooks and a home run by Schlagel. Vallejo got the win for East. The pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out three. Rylee Stephenson threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. East socked two home runs on the day. Schlagel had a homer in the fifth inning. Brooks put one out in the first inning. East totaled eight hits. Schlagel, Brooks, and Gracie Oswald all had multiple hits for East. Oswald, Brooks, and Schlagel all had two hits to lead East. East was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Schlagel made the most plays with 11.
