Hammond Central Red Devils (Hammond, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Harrisville Pirates (Harrisville, NY), 9-2 in a league challenge.

The Red Devils now own a 8-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Hermon-DeKalb Central for a Section 10 West challenge on Thursday, May 11. Hammond Central will battle a Demons squad coming off a 13-9 league loss to Heuvelton Central (Heuvelton, NY). The Demons record now stands at 0-5.

With the loss, Harrisville falls to 1-4 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Edwards-Knox (Russell, NY) to battle the Cougars in a Section 10 West challenge on Thursday, May 11. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 5-2. Edwards-Knox won 16-1 in their recent league challenge against Heuvelton Central (Heuvelton, NY)
