In Thursday's league game, the host Alton Comets baseball team scored a tight 2-1 victory over the Southern Reynolds Whippets.
The Comets (12-12) will now prepare for their game against Greenville (Greenville, MO). The Bears go into the Class 2 District 2 game with a 22-9 record. In their last game, Greenville tipped Arcadia Valley (Ironton, MO), 8-1, in a non-league game.
The Whippets (13-12) will now prepare for their game against Central (Park Hills, MO). The Rebels go into the non-league game with a 13-10 record.
