The crowd at Monday's league bout between the Solon Spartans (Solon, IA) and the host Independence Mustangs (Independence, IA), observed Solon's softball team notch a victory over Independence by a tally of 15-6.

The Spartans (4-2) will now prepare for their bout against Vinton-Shellsburg (Vinton, IA). The Vikings go into the non-league bout with a 2-5 record. In their last bout, Vinton-Shellsburg was routed by Williamsburg (Williamsburg, IA), 8-0, in a league bout.

In their next game, the Mustangs battle the Mt. Vernon Mustangs (Mt. Vernon, IA) in a WaMaC-East bout, on Wednesday, June 4. Independence will attempt to advance on its 0-5 season record. The Mustangs go into the bout with a 3-2 record after their 4-1 non-league loss to Grinnell (Grinnell, IA).
