The Cougars (22-10) will now prepare for their battle against Independence (Independence, IA). The Mustangs enter the non-league battle with a 16-13 record. In their last battle, Independence defeated Decorah-North Winneshiek (Decorah, IA), 8-4, in a non-league battle.

Next, the Wahawks face the Xavier Saints (Cedar Rapids, IA) in a non-league battle, on Thursday, July 3. Waterloo West will attempt to upgrade on its 5-30 season record. The Saints enter the battle with a 15-15 record after their 8-5 non-league loss to Benton (Van Horne, IA).
