In Wednesday's non-league game, the visiting Solon Spartans baseball team scored a close 6-2 win over the Benton Bobcats.

The Spartans (17-11) will now prepare for their game against Regina (Iowa City, IA). The Regals go into the non-league game with a 22-4 record. In their last game, Regina was overwhelmed by Mid-Prairie (Wellman, IA), 10-5, in a non-league game.

Next, the Bobcats play the Center Point-Urbana Stormin' Pointers (Center Point, IA) in a WaMac-West game, on Thursday, July 3. Benton will attempt to improve on its 23-6 season record. The Stormin' Pointers go into the game with a 8-16 record after their 4-3 non-league win over North Linn (Troy Mills, IA).
