North Polk Comets (Alleman, IA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Ballard Bombers (Huxley, IA), 5-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Comets now own a 28-4 record. They take the field next when they host Boone for a non-league challenge on Saturday, July 8. North Polk will face a Toreadors squad coming off a 3-1 non-league win over Waverly-Shell Rock (Waverly, IA). The Toreadors record now stands at 15-16.

With the loss, Ballard falls to 8-13 on the campaign. The Bombers travel to Roland-Story (Story City, IA) to face the Norsemen in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, July 5. The Norsemen enter the challenge with a record of 13-17.
