In Monday's non-league match, the host Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings softball team scored a nice 9-1 win over the Union Knights.

The Vikings (12-26) will now prepare for their match against Solon (Solon, IA). The Spartans come into the non-league match with a 15-24 record. In their last match, Solon was routed by Jefferson (Cedar Rapids, IA), 6-1, in a non-league match.

In their next game, the Knights confront the Mt. Vernon Mustangs (Mt. Vernon, IA) in a non-league match, on Thursday, July 11. Union will attempt to better on its 4-19 season record. The Mustangs come into the match with a 30-11 record after their 1-0 non-league loss to Western Dubuque (Epworth, IA).
