Irwin County Indians (Ocilla, GA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane (Fitzgerald, GA), 17-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Indians now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Brooks County for a 1A D-I Region 1 challenge on Tuesday, August 15. Irwin County will battle a Trojans squad coming off a 21-6 non-league loss to Atkinson County (Pearson, GA). The Trojans record now stands at 0-1.

With the loss, Fitzgerald falls to 0-2 on the campaign. The Purple hurricane host Cook (Adel, GA) to battle the Hornets in a 2A Region 1 challenge on Tuesday, August 22. The Hornets enter the challenge with a record of 4-0.
