The Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane softball squad (Fitzgerald, GA), was routed 17-1 in Monday's non-league contest with the host Crisp County Cougars (Cordele, GA)

The Cougars (2-0) will now prepare for their bout against Valdosta (Valdosta, GA). The Wildcats go into the non-league bout with a 1-1 record. In their last bout, Valdosta was routed by Tiftarea Academy (Chula, GA), 9-5, in a non-league bout.

In their next game, the Purple Hurricane battle the Berrien Rebels (Nashville, GA) in a 1A D-I Region 1 bout, on Tuesday, August 12. Fitzgerald will attempt to advance on its 1-1 season record. The Rebels enter the contest with a 0-2 record after their 4-0 non-league loss to Lowndes (Valdosta, GA).
