The West Johnston Wildcats volleyball team scored 2 points and limited the visiting Garner Trojans to 0 in the Wildcats non-league victory on Monday.
The Wildcats now possess a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Clayton for a non-league game on Wednesday, August 16.
The Trojans (0-1) will now prepare for their game against JV Opponent (, ). The enter the non-league game with a 2-3 record. In their last game, JV Opponent defeated Pensacola Area Homeschool (Pensacola, FL), 2-0, in a non-league game.
Match Summary
The West Johnston girls JV squad opened its season with a comfortable 2 set victory over the Trojan girls from Garner High. The Lady Wildcats got out to a comfortable lead in the 1st set and held Garner at bay for the 25 - 20 win. Garner started out stronger in the 2nd set, at one time holding a 12 - 10 lead; however, West proved too strong, outscoring the Lady Trojans 15 - 5 to close out the match. Next up for the Wildcats is an away match at Clayton High School on Wednesday afternoon.
