In Thursday's non-league match, the host Durant Lions softball team scored a tight 9-8 win over the McAlester Buffaloes.
The Lions (1-3) will now prepare for their match against Pocola (Pocola, OK). The Indians enter the non-league game with a 3-0 record. In their last game, Pocola edged Talihina (Talihina, OK), 8-0, in a non-league game.
The Buffaloes now own a 0-2 record. They play next when they host Byng for a non-league game on Friday, August 15. McAlester will confront a Pirates team coming off a 5-0 non-league win over Vanoss (Ada, OK). The Pirates record now stands at 3-1.
