Portal Panthers (Portal, GA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Wheeler County Bulldogs (Alamo, GA), 6-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Panthers now own a 1-3 record. They take the field next when they host Johnson County for a non-league challenge on Monday, August 22. Portal will battle a Trojans squad coming off a 9-2 league loss to Georgia Military College (Milledgeville, GA). The Trojans record now stands at 4-4.

With the loss, Wheeler County falls to 2-6 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to Wilcox County (Rochelle, GA) to battle the Patriots in a 1A D-II Region 4 challenge on Thursday, August 18. The Patriots enter the challenge with a record of 5-0. Wilcox County won 8-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Marion County (Buena Vista, GA)
