Gatewood Gators (Eatonton, GA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Edmund Burke Academy Spartans (Waynesboro, GA), 6-3 in a league challenge.

The Gators now sport a 3-1 record. They take the field next when they host Southland Academy for a non-league challenge on Saturday, August 20. Gatewood will face a Raiders squad coming off a 16-4 non-league loss to Windsor Academy (Macon, GA). The Raiders record now stands at 0-1.

With the loss, Edmund Burke Academy falls to 1-3 on the campaign. The Spartans host David Emanuel Academy (Stillmore, GA) to face the Eagles in a non-league challenge on Monday, August 22. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 0-2. David Emanuel Academy lost 14-5 in their recent non-league challenge against Trinity Christian (Dublin, GA)
