Lincoln East Spartans (Lincoln, NE) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Grand Island Islanders (Grand Island, NE), 9-0 in a league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 2-0 record. They put it on the line next when they host Millard North for a non-league game on Friday, August 19. Lincoln East will clash with a Mustangs team coming off a 6-2 league win over Millard South (Omaha, NE). The Mustangs record now stands at 1-0.

In their next game, the Islanders clash with the Norfolk Panthers (Norfolk, NE) in a A District game, on Saturday, August 20. Grand Island will attempt to improve on its 0-2 season record. The Panthers come into the game with a 1-1 record after their 8-6 league win over Lincoln Southwest (Lincoln, NE).
