Fairmont Golden Tornadoes (Fairmont, NC) backers were pleased Thursday as they witnessed their volleyball team tip the host St. Pauls Bulldogs (St. Pauls, NC), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Golden Tornadoes (1-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Pender (Burgaw, NC). The Patriots come into the non-league challenge with a 4-1 record. In their last challenge, Pender edged Wallace-Rose Hill (Teachey, NC), 2-0, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Bulldogs face the Whiteville Wolfpack (Whiteville, NC) in a non-league test, on Wednesday, August 27. St. Pauls will attempt to advance on its 0-2 season record. The Wolfpack go into the test with a 0-3 record after their 2-0 non-league loss to New Hanover (Wilmington, NC).
