In Thursday's league match, the host Miller County Pirates softball team scored a tight 2-0 victory over the Mitchell County Eagles.
The Pirates (7-2) will now prepare for their match against Brookstone (Columbus, GA). The Cougars go into the non-league match with a 3-2 record. In their last match, Brookstone tipped Deerfield-Windsor (Albany, GA), 15-2, in a non-league match.
In their next game, the Eagles battle the Seminole County Indians (Donalsonville, GA) in a 1A D-II Region 1 match, on Tuesday, August 27. Mitchell County will attempt to better on its 0-6 season record.
