Houston Hawks (Big Lake, AK) fans went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team achieve victory over the host Kodiak Bears (Kodiak, AK), 33-8 in a non-league battle.

With the win, Houston improves its record to 1-1 on the year. The Hawks host Kenai Central (Kenai, AK) to face the Kardinals in a Mid Alaska challenge on Friday, September 5. The Kardinals enter the challenge with a record of 1-1.

The Bears (0-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Barrow (Utqiagvik, AK). The Whalers enter the Mid Alaska challenge with a 1-1 record.
