In Friday's non-league match, the host Murrieta Valley Nighthawks football squad scored a close 28-26 triumph over the Rancho Cucamonga Cougars.

The Nighthawks (1-0) will now prepare for their match against Servite (Anaheim, CA). The Friars come into the non-league match with a 0-1 record. In their last match, Servite was tipped by Centennial (Corona, CA), 42-14, in a non-league battle.

The Cougars now have a 0-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Orange Lutheran for a non-league match on Friday, August 29. Rancho Cucamonga will meet a Lancers squad coming off a 17-15 non-league win over Northwestern (Miami, FL). The Lancers record now stands at 1-0.
