Appling County Pirates (Baxley, GA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Toombs County Bulldogs (Lyons, GA), 3-0 in a league challenge.

The Pirates now own a 6-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Pierce County for a 2A Region 3 challenge on Thursday, August 25. Appling County will battle a Bears squad coming off a 4-2 league loss to Brantley County (Nahunta, GA). The Bears record now stands at 6-3.

With the loss, Toombs County falls to 2-3 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to Vidalia (Vidalia, GA) to battle the Indians in a 2A Region 3 challenge on Thursday, August 25. The Indians enter the challenge with a record of 5-4. Vidalia won 6-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Emanuel County Institute (Twin City, GA)
