The crowd at Thursday's non-league contest between the Franklin Panthers (Franklin, NC) and the visiting Smoky Mountain Mustangs (Sylva, NC), observed Franklin's football squad defeat Smoky Mountain by a count of 18-0.

The Panthers now own a 1-0 record. They play next when they travel to Asheville for a non-league contest on Thursday, August 31. Franklin will encounter a Cougars squad coming off a 40-12 non-league win over Tuscola (Waynesville, NC). The Cougars record now stands at 1-0.
