Cartersville Hurricanes (Cartersville, GA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Cass Colonels (White, GA), 6-5 in a league challenge.

The Hurricanes now own a 6-3 record. They take the field next when they host Calhoun for a 5A Region 7 challenge on Tuesday, August 29. Cartersville will battle a Yellow Jackets squad coming off a 3-1 non-league loss to Cherokee (Canton, GA). The Yellow Jackets record now stands at 7-4.

With the loss, Cass falls to 3-8 on the campaign. The Colonels host Woodland (Cartersville, GA) to battle the Wildcats in a 5A Region 7 challenge on Tuesday, August 29. The Wildcats enter the challenge with a record of 9-2. Woodland won 14-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Wheeler (Marietta, GA)
