The crowd at Friday's non-league contest between the West Memphis Blue Devils (West Memphis, AR) and the visiting Jonesboro Hurricane (Jonesboro, AR), observed West Memphis's football squad edge Jonesboro by a count of 21-20.

The Blue Devils now own a 1-0 record. They play next when they travel to Jacksonville for a 6A East contest on Saturday, September 10. West Memphis will encounter a Titans squad coming off a 43-6 non-league loss to Beebe (Beebe, AR). The Titans record now stands at 0-1.

Coming up next, the Hurricane encounter the Lake Hamilton Wolves (Pearcy, AR) in a non-league contest, on Friday, September 2. Jonesboro will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record. The Wolves go into the contest with a 1-0 record after their 47-20 non-league win over Lakeside (Hot Springs, AR).
