In Saturday's non-league battle, the visiting Carrollton Hawks volleyball team scored a 2-0 triumph over the Gillespie Miners.

The Hawks (3-3) will now prepare for their bout against Southwestern (Piasa, IL). The Piasa Birds go into the non-league bout with a 1-4 record. In their last bout, Southwestern notched a victory over East Alton-Wood River (Wood River, IL), 2-0, in a non-league bout.

The Miners now own a 1-3 record. They play next when they travel to Nokomis for a non-league bout on Tuesday, August 30. Gillespie will play a Redskins squad coming off a 2-1 non-league loss to St. Elmo/Brownstown (St. Elmo, IL). The Redskins record now stands at 2-1.
