In Thursday's non-league match, the Vasquez Mustangs (Acton, CA) volleyball squad prevailed the visiting Palmdale Falcons (Palmdale, CA), by a count of 3-0.
Next up, the Mustangs battle the St. Monica Academy Crusaders (Montrose, CA) in a Heritage match, on Friday, August 29. Vasquez will attempt to move on its 5-3 season record. The Crusaders enter the match with a 3-3 record after their 3-1 league win over The Palmdale Aerospace Academy (Palmdale, CA).
The Falcons (1-2) will now prepare for their match against Quartz Hill (Quartz Hill, CA). The Royals enter the Golden match with a 3-1 record. In their last match, Quartz Hill notched a victory over Serrano (Phelan, CA), 3-1, in a non-league bout.
Match Summary
Great match, with an outstanding team effort from the Palmdale Falcons in each set. In an attempt to send the game into a fourth set, the leadership of Captain Destiny Sotelo emerged in the 2nd set of the series, with an outstanding serving sequence of uncontested serves from Varquez High School. Overall, the Palmadle Falcons showcased great sportsmanship and unity during the series, closing the point gaps in each set.
