Fans at Friday's non-league contest between the Valdez Buccaneers (Valdez, AK) and the host Seward Seahawks (Seward, AK), observed Valdez's volleyball team hold off Seward by a count of 1-0.
The Buccaneers (8-4) will now prepare for their battle against Barrow (Utqiagvik, AK). The Whalers go into the non-league battle with a 4-0 record. In their last battle, Barrow tipped Kotzebue (Kotzebue, AK), 3-0, in a league battle.
The Seahawks now own a 0-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Grace Christian for a 3A Southcentral battle on Friday, September 12.
