In Saturday's non-league challenge, the host Cascade Cougars volleyball team scored a close 2-1 triumph over the Maquoketa Valley Wildcats.

The Cougars (1-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Alburnett (Alburnett, IA). The Pirates come into the non-league challenge with a 0-4 record. In their last challenge, Alburnett was nudged by Central (Elkader, IA), 2-1, in a non-league challenge.

Next up, the Wildcats face the North Fayette Valley (West Union, IA) in a non-league game, on Tuesday, September 2. Maquoketa Valley will attempt to advance on its 2-7 season record. The go into the game with a 1-0 record after their 3-2 non-league win over Decorah-North Winneshiek (Decorah, IA).
