In Saturday's non-league challenge, the visiting Hughes Springs Mustangs volleyball team scored a close 2-1 triumph over the New Boston Lions.

The Mustangs (14-9) will now prepare for their challenge against Gladewater (Gladewater, TX). The Bears come into the non-league challenge with a 3-9 record. In their last challenge, Gladewater was nudged by Timpson (Timpson, TX), 2-1, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Lions meet the Chapel Hill Red Devils (Mount Pleasant, TX) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, September 3. New Boston will attempt to upgrade on its 1-4 season record.
