In Thursday's non-league challenge, the host Canton Tigers volleyball team scored a close 3-2 victory over the Yazoo County Panthers.

The Tigers (1-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Yazoo City (Yazoo City, MS). The Indians go into the Class 5A Region 2 battle with a 0-1 record. In their last battle, Yazoo City was edged by Leflore County (Itta Bena, MS), 3-0, in a non-league battle.

The Panthers now own a 0-1 record. They put it on the line next when they host Riverside for a non-league battle on Tuesday, August 12. Yazoo County will encounter a Bulldogs squad coming off a 3-1 non-league win over Cleveland Central (Cleveland, MS). The Bulldogs record now stands at 1-4.
