In Thursday's non-league battle, the host Liberty Raiders volleyball team scored a tight 3-2 triumph over the Summers County Bobcats.

The Raiders (2-0) will now prepare for their battle against Independence (Coal City, WV). The Patriots come into the Coalfield AA battle with a 0-2 record. In their last battle, Independence was edged by Shady Spring (Shady Spring, WV), 2-0, in a league battle.

Next, the Bobcats clash with the Charleston Catholic Irish (Charleston, WV) in a non-league battle, on Tuesday, September 6. Summers County will attempt to advance on its 0-1 season record. The Irish come into the battle with a 0-3 record after their 3-1 non-league loss to Sissonville (Charleston, WV).
