The Mt. Zion Eagles softball squad scored 16 runs and limited the host Hiram Hornets to 3 in the Eagles non-league triumph on Wednesday.

Next, the Eagles play the Trion Bulldogs (Trion, GA) in a 1A D-II Region 7 challenge, on Thursday, September 11. Mt. Zion will attempt to upgrade on its 8-7 season record. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a 7-4 record after their 5-4 league win over Mt. Zion (Mt. Zion, GA).

The Hornets (3-10) will now prepare for their challenge against Southeast Whitfield County (Dalton, GA). The Raiders enter the 4A Region 7 challenge with a 5-12 record. In their last challenge, Southeast Whitfield County was routed by Woodland (Cartersville, GA), 6-4, in a league challenge.
