The crowd at Monday's non-league bout between the Alleghany Trojans (Sparta, NC) and the host Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA), saw Alleghany's volleyball squad nip Galax by a tally of 3-2.

With the win, Alleghany upgrades its record to 7-3 on the year. The Trojans travel to Elkin (Elkin, NC) to play the Buckin' Elks in a Northwest 1A bout on Tuesday, September 12. The Buckin' Elks go into the bout with a record of 2-9. Elkin lost 3-0 in their recent non-league bout against North Surry (Mount Airy, NC)

The Maroon Tide now own a 4-3 record. They play next when they host Giles for a Mountain Empire bout on Tuesday, September 12. Galax will play a Spartans squad coming off a 3-1 non-league loss to Glenvar (Salem, VA). The Spartans record now stands at 6-1.
