Fans at Wednesday's non-league contest between the Pamlico County Hurricanes (Bayboro, NC) and the host Croatan Cougars (Newport, NC), observed Pamlico County's volleyball team hold off Croatan by a count of 3-2.

The Hurricanes (9-3) will now prepare for their contest against East Carteret (Beaufort, NC). The Mariners enter the Coastal Plains 1A/2A contest with a 4-8 record. In their last contest, East Carteret got by Jones (Trenton, NC), 3-0, in a league contest.

Next, the Cougars battle the West Carteret Patriots (Morehead City, NC) in a Coastal 3A contest, on Thursday, September 12. Croatan will attempt to move on its 6-4 season record. The Patriots enter the contest with a 6-4 record after their 3-2 non-league loss to Ayden - Grifton (Ayden, NC).
