Fans at Thursday's league battle between the Armstrong River Hawks (Kittanning, PA) and the host Mars Fightin' Planets (Mars, PA), saw Armstrong's soccer squad hold off Mars by a score of 1-0.

The River Hawks (3-1) will now prepare for their battle against West Shamokin (Rural Valley, PA). The Wolves enter the non-league battle with a 0-7 record. In their last battle, West Shamokin was edged by Cambria Heights (Patton, PA), 2-1, in a league battle.

Next up, the Fightin' Planets confront the Deer Lakes Lancers (Russellton, PA) in a non-league battle, on Saturday, September 14. Mars will attempt to improve on its 5-2 season record. The Lancers enter the battle with a 5-2 record after their 14-0 league win over Valley (New Kensington, PA).
