Ariton Purple Cats (Ariton, AL) followers went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team achieve victory over the visiting Abbeville Yellowjackets (Abbeville, AL), 41-24 in a league battle.

With the win, Ariton advances its record to 3-0 on the season. The Purple Cats travel to Long (Skipperville, AL) to play the Rebels in a 2A Region 2 match on Friday, September 19. The Rebels come into the match with a record of 2-2. Long won 55-40 in their recent league match against Geneva County (Hartford, AL)

Coming up next, the Yellowjackets confront the Houston County Lions (Columbia, AL) in a 2A Region 2 match, on Friday, September 19. Abbeville will attempt to upgrade on its 0-4 season record. The Lions come into the match with a 1-3 record after their 45-12 league loss to Cottonwood (Cottonwood, AL).
