In Thursday's non-league battle, the host Emporia Spartans soccer squad scored a close 2-0 triumph over the Valley Center Hornets.
The Spartans (6-1) will now prepare for their battle against Washburn Rural (Topeka, KS). The Blues come into the Centennial battle with a 6-0 record.
The Hornets (1-5) will now prepare for their battle against Maize South (Wichita, KS). The Mavericks come into the non-league battle with a 6-0 record. In their last battle, Maize South nudged Great Bend (Great Bend, KS), 7-0, in a non-league battle.
