In Monday's league challenge, the host Maywood Academy Nighthawks volleyball team scored a close 3-2 victory over the Marquez Gladiators.

The Nighthawks (4-5) will now prepare for their challenge against Elizabeth (Cudahy, CA). The Bulldogs enter the Southern challenge with a 0-5 record. In their last challenge, Elizabeth was edged by Maywood CES (Maywood, CA), 3-0, in a league test.

The Gladiators now own a 3-8 record. They put it on the line next when they host Sotomayor for a Southern test on Thursday, September 18.
