Elbert County Blue Devils (Elberton, GA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Franklin County Lions (Carnesville, GA), 7-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Blue Devils now own a 13-4 record. They take the field next when they host Athens Christian for a 1A D-I Region 8 challenge on Tuesday, September 19. Elbert County will face a Eagles squad coming off a 13-0 league loss to Rabun County (Tiger, GA). The Eagles record now stands at 2-6.

With the loss, Franklin County falls to 15-2 on the season. The Lions host Thomson (Thomson, GA) to meet the Bulldogs in a non-league match on Saturday, September 16. The Bulldogs go into the match with a record of 9-4. Thomson won 16-1 in their recent league match against Josey (Augusta, GA)
