In Monday's non-league match, the Smoky Mountain Mustangs (Sylva, NC) volleyball squad tipped the host North Buncombe Black Hawks (Weaverville, NC), by a count of 3-2.

Next up, the Mustangs battle the Pisgah Bears (Canton, NC) in a Mountain Seven 3A match, on Tuesday, September 17. Smoky Mountain will attempt to move on its 3-9 season record. The Bears enter the match with a 6-7 record after their 3-1 non-league loss to Cherokee (Cherokee, NC).

The Black Hawks (4-8) will now prepare for their match against Asheville (Asheville, NC). The Cougars enter the The Mountain 3A/4A match with a 11-6 record. In their last match, Asheville held off McDowell (Marion, NC), 3-1, in a league match.
