The Effingham Hearts soccer squad scored 6 points and held the host Newton Eagles to 2 in the Hearts non-league victory on Tuesday.

The Hearts now hold a 9-1 record. They play next when they travel to Charleston for a Apollo bout on Thursday, September 18. Effingham will face a Trojans team coming off a 10-1 league win over Taylorville (Taylorville, IL). The Trojans record now stands at 4-6.

The Eagles (9-2) will now prepare for their contest against Mt. Carmel (Mt. Carmel, IL). The Golden Aces enter the Little Illini contest with a 0-6 record.
