The Siegel Stars edged the host Blackman Blaze volleyball squad by a final score of 3-2 in Tuesday's league game.
Next up, the Stars confront the Rockvale (Rockvale, TN) in a AAA District 8 game, on Thursday, September 18. Siegel will attempt to advance on its 9-12 season record. The enter the game with a 2-11 record after their 3-1 league loss to Riverdale (Murfreesboro, TN).
The Blaze (9-5) will now prepare for their game against Riverdale (Murfreesboro, TN). The Warriors come into the AAA District 8 outing with a 9-15 record.
Match Summary
This match was a nail biter from the start. Two rival teams face off to see who will take the first-place seat in the TSSAA's District III-AA conference. Blackman had home-court advantage and Siegel had something to prove.
The proved what they are capable of when individuals come together as one.
Mia McGrath, senior right-side lefty and 4.0 student, led The Stars with 21 kills, 7 digs, 8 receptions, 2 aces, and a solo block. Junior setter Camryn Keckler put up 28 assists, 5 aces, and two kills. Swiss army knife sophomore Hallee Chatman (setter by trade, blocker by gift, and passer by skill), had five assists, 2 kills, 1 ace, 2 blocks, 5 digs, and 15 receptions. Senior outside hitter and shot queen Kenzie Field put down 16 kills, 4 digs, and 11 receptions. Senior libero, Defensive Player of the Year, and 4.0 student Camyrn Faulk had 2 aces, 5 out of system assists, 16 digs, and 16 receptions.
Baylor Burnett, Addyson Pate, and Madeleine Maignan were strong contributors as well.
