In Wednesday's league match, the host Mount Vernon Mustangs softball team scored a nice 9-1 victory over the St. Francis Knights.

The Mustangs (15-0) will now prepare for their match against St. Pius X Catholic (Atlanta, GA). The Golden Lions go into the non-league match with a 12-9 record. In their last game, St. Pius X Catholic topped Northview (Johns Creek, GA), 8-0, in a league game.

The Knights now hold a 7-6 record. They play next when they travel to Landmark Christian for a 1A D-I Region 5 game on Thursday, September 18. St. Francis will play a War Eagles squad coming off a 15-3 league win over Galloway (Atlanta, GA). The War Eagles record now stands at 2-12.
